Ryan Tenbergen, DVM - Demeter Veterinary Services

Dr Tenbergen grew up in Ingersoll, Ontario. He attended the University of Guelph and completed a BSc and MSc in Swine Health Management, then graduated from the Ontario Veterinary College in 2016. Ryan is the author and co-author of scientific articles in the field of swine diseases and pig farm management. He has also been a guest speaker at several scientific conferences and meetings on pork production across Canada. He joined Demeter Veterinary Services in 2016 and became part owner in 2019. He oversees farms in Ontario and the Maritimes.

Lauren Hansen, Swine Nutrition Specialist, M.Sc. - SMI

Lauren Hansen is Swine Nutritionist and Technical Representative at Shakespeare Mills Inc. She has her Masters in Animal Nutrition from the University of Guelph. She is a Director on the OPIC Board and is chairing this year’s Hog Jog.


    Dave Blais, Demeter Veterinary Services

    Dave has a wealth of production knowledge from his more than 16 years of experience managing swine barns. He recently completed the Ag Business program at Fanshawe and is Demeter’s newest hire. Dave is responsible for Demeter’s Biosecurity and Rodent Control Program. He will also be available to help Ontario producers with PigFlow.

    Bert Caputo, CFA - RBC

    For 20 years, Bert had been working with agricultural producers developing marketing plans and executing hedging strategies using futures and options. He works closely with hog producers, sharing ideas and information to allow them to make better informed marketing decisions. Bert has a Honours Bachelor of Business Administration degree from Laurier, he is a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA). He also is the vice-chair of the OPIC board.

    Dan Bussières, Swine Nutrition Specialist, B.Sc., agr. - SMI

    Dan Bussières is a swine nutritionist graduated from Université Laval, Quebec, and one of the brightest minds of the Global Swine Industry. Together with his partner, he founded Groupe Cérès Inc in 2004. Mr. Bussières is the head of nutrition for HyLife and the Cérès Group, works on the development and monitoring of nutrition programs for pig producers across Canada, and is engaged in pork production.

    Myriam Morissette, agr. - Demeter Services Vétérinaires

    Myriam graduated as an agronomist from Université Laval in 2021. Although she did not come from an agricultural background, she has been actively involved and working on pig farms since the beginning of her studies in 2015 at Cégep de Lévis-Lauzon in Agricultural Business Management and Technology (GTEA).. Throughout her early career, she has held various positions, both as a worker and a manager in pig production, primarily within the large Sollio network. She joined the Demeter team in December 2022 as a Representative and Operations Advisor to support the team in its mission to advise and assist pig producers in Quebec and across Canada.

    Luc Dufresne, DVM - Swine Veterinary Partners

    Luc Dufresne is a swine veterinarian with Demeter Quebec and Swine Veterinary Partners. He graduated from Université de Montréal in 1988 and started his career with Shur-gain. He has also worked for Brown’s of Carolina (Smithfield foods), PIC and Seaboard Foods. In 2014, Luc was awarded the Al Leman Science in Practice Award from University of Minnesota and in 2016 he was awarded Swine Veterinarian of the Year by the American Association of Swine Veterinarians.
